After the legend there was built a village, which was also called Polisma.
It was built an altar to honour the halfgod Herakles, because he is god of the isle.
The village was groundet by Pothon.
An other legend says, that Sotiras was grounded by prince Athel, just after he left the village Kaki Rachi
(today Kallirachi).

Today there are only some ruines left, who reminds us of the past.
Some meters above of Sotiras there were built some new houses and pensions.
In the middle of the ruines you will find two churches.
They are very gut preserved.
The village was built interior to protect them from the pirates.
But today you are able to see the village from the sea because most of the forest is gone.
Some of it is gone because of a fire and some of the trees were cut by the people.

In the ruines there were found some gifts for the deads, antik graves, small pots and also a relief of an horseman.
The last inhabitants doing agriculture and honey.
Together with Skala Sotiras there are about 750 inhabitants, who are living there.
